Typically harvested in August and September. We use to flavor vegetables like carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, turnips and winter squash. Soups, apple pie, fruit compote, pumpkin pie, chili sauces, plum pudding, rice pudding, cookies, gingerbread, spice cakes, sweet rolls, pickles, relishes, gravies, hamburgers, meatballs, lamb stew, beef roast, stew and meat marinades are also great with allspice berries.
Warm, sweetly pungent, with floral undertones.
