Black Forest Cake!
One pastry chef in Germany improved a traditional cake well known in the Black Forest region by putting cherries on the top of whipped cream and adding Kirschwasser, a fruit brandy distilled from cherries. The new improved cake became very popular in Germany and soon conquered the world. Americans, who could not pronounce its German name " Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte" , called it Black Forest Cake and that is what it is called today.
