When we think of antioxidants, we usually think of green tea. But Rooibos is also very high in antioxidants. Rooibos comes from a South African tree that belongs to legume family. The needle like leaves are harvested for this delicious tea. The word Rooibos means Red Bush in Afrikaan.
The antioxidants in Rooibos tea help to fight free radicals. The polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties and help safeguard against heart disease. It is good hot or cold, with milk and little sugar or honey to taste.
Our favorite of this season is Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos. Fruity with sweet notes, vanilla flavoring gives this Rooibos a wonderful exotic vanilla jazzy taste. Almonds add some delicious nutty fragrance. Our friends like this as their evening tea. We also noticed that children love it and it is caffeine free.
Check out our full tea collection of Rooibos Teas. They range from Blueberry Bang Rooibos to Tuscany Pear Rooibos to Provence Rooibos to Chocolate Mint Rooibos. We have 19 kinds of delicious Rooibos Teas.
We have one brewing tip with respect to Rooibos Teas to share... The leaves are very fine, and can come through a conventional strainer into your cup. We often use a fine mesh infuser, like this one here. Alternatively, you can use one of our Re-usable Cotton Tea Bags or Disposable Tea Filters. Making your own tea bags is a foolproof method to keep the finest leaves out of your cup, plus it is an easy portable way to take any of our gourmet teas on the go.
